Jon Huffmaster, AIA, Owner
Life rarely follows a straight line. When the unexpected opportunity arose to launch my own firm, I embraced the challenge—and the promise—of building something new. Founding ADG marked a pivotal moment in my career, allowing me to integrate over a decade of experience with a deeper commitment to regenerative design and sustainable building practices.
Throughout my career, I’ve led and contributed to projects across a wide spectrum of scales and sectors—Education, Commercial Office, Light Industrial, Historic Preservation, and Residential. Whether designing adaptive reuse spaces or guiding new construction, I’ve remained focused on creating environments that are both technically sound and emotionally resonant.
My passion lies at the intersection of architecture and human health. After years in a large firm where wellness often took a back seat to cost efficiency, I recognized a critical gap: it is possible to design healthy buildings without compromising budget. I believe in the transformative power of biophilic design, daylighting strategies, and material transparency to elevate everyday experiences. Healthy spaces aren’t a luxury—they’re a necessity and they’re within reach.
Outside of work, I stay grounded through mentorship and service. I volunteer at my church to support youth and teens, and I collaborate with AIA National to advance small project design—an area I believe holds immense potential for innovation and impact.
I live in Ham Lake, Minnesota with my wife Sommer, our children Henry and Heidi, and our dog Stan. I’m happiest outdoors, on the golf course, or savoring a cup of exceptional coffee.
